Connecting with Malaysians

90% Malaysians in my network.

I'm super selective wan.

Cause' I'm the skema-type.

I connected with everyone on LinkedIn at first. I nobody kan, but I wanted to get my posts seen.

Hardly anyone was reading them. The view counts were so pathetic. Don't know I write for what also.

Is it my grammar? Or how I wrote it. Until one day, a connection sent me a message. "I really enjoyed reading your post lah. It's so Manglish.".

Then, it struck me. I was living in a cave called Gua Kantoi.

I connected with the wrong audience!

Since then, I've been kacau-ing mostly Malaysians. Because they understood what I wrote. If an orang putih reads them, it's gonna be a challenge.

Just a tweak in my connections:

  1. Post view counts increased.
  2. More comments were given.
  3. Likes and shares went up.
  4. Valuable friendships forged.

Like it or not, I can only reach out to you guys through my writings. I don't have a pretty face. Only got 1-pack ab.

Of course, how I write is important. But, I also can't miss out on the fact who reads it matters too.

If one does not understand the lingo and words I used, how to respond? It's like me reading a "minum air suam kills virus" post, I won't get it wan.

So, I connect with Malaysians, and some of our neighbouring friends too.

How about you?
