First Impression on LinkedIn

The first impression.

Does it matter?

Yes, at least on LinkedIn.

With support from my network, I reviewed a couple of profiles earlier. A big shoutout to you guys. Terima kasih!

The absence of a background photo was one of the common issues. It's a waste not to use it. Got such a big area to capture a person's attention. But, it's filled with a grey background.

That said, some had it. However, the image doesn't tally with the headline. It sends out a conflicting message.

Jangan risau. Got ways to make our profiles enticing wan.

1. Pick one focus

Some of us may have different roles. It may be tempting to chuck everything unto an image. Pick the best one to represent our core.

2. Tagline

Use a tagline to represent what we do. Get creative. I made sure mine aligns to what I do too.

3. Matching colours

Jarring colours can be a put-off. The trick is to take the colour from our profile photo. Then, apply it to the background image.

4. Headshot

Make sure our face is visible. Shoulder-up. Smile. Serious faces have less appeal. Hm. Maybe that's why I'm not getting many connections.
