RM 3000 Extra Every Month

RM 3000 in the pocket. Every month.

This was the extra income I got from creating websites and it was a major relief to my finances. So, how did I get that extra cash?

Work. Lot's of it. From ground zero.

I was tight, financially. After I got back from Singapore, my income was slashed by 2/3'rds. My wifey decided to be a stay at home mom. That's another huge slash. My savings were bleeding.

I can't wait for a pay rise. That will take years!

Hence, I decided to learn up a new skill. I took up web design. Not cardiology. Not gynaecology. Not any doctor-related skills but a different sub-skill altogether.

Every night, I spent 2 hours reading up. Everything that I could digest on. From guides, forums, online guides, paid courses and social groups. I was very hungry. So I gobbled everything down.

I took 6 months to complete the "crash course".

With the right skills in hand, I went hunting. My first customer was my colleague's husband. We spoke. He was amazed that I understood all the terms he used. I was surprised myself too. We shook hands and he paid me in full.

Since then, I got projects every month. The word of mouth works wonders. Once a month was more than sufficient to keep my family sustained.

And that's how I got RM 3000 in the pocket.

How much do you want in yours?

  1. A government specialist gets specialist allowance of RM3k a month I think. So you scored as a doctor specialized in web design. Great!

    1. Oh, really ah? It's been such a long time since I left the government practice already. Not sure how much they are paid now. Of course, for this side stuff, anything extra is a bonus. It helps to relieve the burden.
